It's time to prepare the garden!

In this article you will find many tips to ensure a large harvest of vegetables!

Gardening is also healthy because it is pure physical movement.

The main advantages of gardening are two, having fresh zero KM vegetables and improving your health by exercising in the open air. So let's see how to start our garden!

Preparing the soil for the vegetable garden

Preparing the soil for our garden is the most important operation, in order to obtain an abundant harvest.

The cleaning of the land

In order to create your own garden it is important to prepare the soil for sowing (or transplanting). The cleaning of the soil is essential by eliminating the weeds and spontaneous weeds that are present. You can choose to eliminate herbaceous plants naturally and make your garden become organic. Otherwise you can continue in the traditional way using a herbicide (this would seem the easier choice, but it is the least recommended).

Prepare the soil for the organic garden

The organic garden is the most recommended choice. It is true that you will have more work to do and it will take more attention, but you will have great satisfaction and the certainty of being able to bring genuine vegetables to the table.

Organic preparation begins with the manual and mechanical removal of weeds. You will have to root out the roots of the plants, if you do it manually, wear work gloves.

Tools can be used to facilitate the removal of weeds. If the field is dense with weeds it is better to start with a hand sickle or use the brush cutter. If the soil is not really full of weeds, we advise you to use the hoe, which should not be used in depth but only on the surface (approximately 5 cm deep). Also remove as many stones as possible, to facilitate further tillage. At this point you can start working on the soil.

The proda

The prow is a slightly raised surface of the ground (about 1 palm high) compared to the passage, where you will go to transplant the vegetables.

Creating raised stalks allow you to have a soil without water stagnation, preventing the plants from rotting due to the soil that is too wet.

The tools needed are:

Work gloves, if possible with hard rubber bottoms;

Vanga, is used to superficially move the earth;

Zappa, you will use it to break the clods and remove weeds by breaking the roots;

Rake, for collecting weeds that have been uprooted;

Fertilizer, choose the specific organic ones for the garden;

Manure, the best are horse, bovine or chicken manure. Otherwise you can choose to use home compost at no cost.

Soil fertilization

The next step is to distribute the fertilizer in the soil. After choosing the fertilizer, you can sprinkle the fertilizer evenly. Remember to move the earth along with the fertilizer. Then let the soil rest.

Expert tip:

To prevent the growth of other weeds around the vegetables, you can lay a mulch cloth in the sowing or transplant area and fix the cloth with steel “U” hooks.

Now your land is ready to be sown or you can decide to transplant the vegetables we have available in Ipergreen. Choose the types of vegetables you like and good cultivation!
